She graduated from Texas Christian University in Social Work and has always sought out opportunities to help and serve people in any way she could. People or pets….she enjoys helping and serving. Her additional pet care experience includes several dog obedience classes, and spent many months working with a private trainer to develop a better understanding of owner/pet relationships. She is a lifelong fan of animals big and small, and grew up with a dog, a bird, and several tanks full of fish. Cathy first began pet sitting for friends and family approximately 10 years ago, and has also worked at two doggie daycares in the metro area. Christie W, Associate Pet Sitter
Starting in January 2017, Christie is brand new to Distinctive Pet Care, but she is not new to her love for animals. She grew up in a small town in California where she was lucky enough to have dogs, rabbits and pigs, while also helping care for her friends’ horses, goats, sheep, cats and even a rescued burro. During this time, she had the wonderful experience of raising and training, Fanta, a guide dog puppy. As a child, she was the favorite pet sitter in the neighborhood and was taking vet science classes through her local 4-H club.
After earning her bachelor’s degree at California State University, Chico, Christie was drawn to Colorado, where her family vacationed every summer. She took a job with the Forest Service in Gunnison where she could take advantage of a Colorado outdoors lifestyle. She has remained in Colorado ever since, continuing to hike, bike, ski, run, and play tennis as much as possible.
Christie is also grateful for her oddly harmonious household, which consists of two middle schoolers, an 11-year-old chocolate lab, a sassy tabby cat, and a sassier guinea pig. Her family spends many hours on the soccer fields, where both her kids play competitively. She enjoys the integral role volunteering for both their teams as the team treasurer.
Recently spending time caring for her friends’ and neighbors’ pets when they are unable to, she especially likes to take a dog or two on a hike or run since her own dog is starting to prefer a little less action. Christie has energy for the active pet and compassion for those who need a little extra love!
Christie completed her Pet Tech Pet First Aid & CPR training in April, 2017.
